John Turner is Chairman of Hillcrest Capital Partners. In 2001, after 40 years in the life insurance industry, John retired as vice chairman for ING Americas and a member of ING’s Executive Committee for the Americas. He also served as vice chairman of the ING U.S. Holdings Board. Prior to the acquisition of ReliaStar Financial Corp. by ING Group, he served as chairman and chief executive officer of ReliaStar from 1991 to 2000. He also served as chairman of a number of ReliaStar subsidiary companies.
John is a director of Forsythe Appraisals, LLC, and Bedford Technology, LLC. John also serves on several corporate and not-for-profit boards including CNO Financial Group, Hamline University, M.A. Mortenson Company, Inc. and the Concord Coalition.
John has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Amherst College. In addition, he did graduate work at the University of Minnesota and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
John and his wife, Leslie, have four grown children—Jeff, Jim, Marcie and Andrew—and nine grandchildren.
